Sudoku is sometimes known as su doku with a space between the two words - not much of a variant.
The other name you will sometimes see it listed under is 'number place' which was the original name used for the puzzle when it first appeared in America.
In addition, there are various pun versions of the name where a newspaper or publication shoves it's name first followed by the word Doku afterwards.
