Rotation and Transformation Puzzles
A popular mind game puzzle to get your brain flexing are rotation and transformation puzzles. There are various types of these and they involve a varying level of complexity. Often you will be asked to spot the pattern as to what is happening as you move from one shape to another.
You may be asked what transformation has been applied to a shape, or what transformation needs to be applied to the shape in order to return to a certain state.
These puzzles are a test of your ability to visualise and your visualisation skills. Some people are naturally very good at being able to 'see' transformations in their head and perform the relevant rotations and transformations, whilst for others they are a real struggle. They make an excellent brain training or mind game puzzle as they test a different part of the brain to many logic based puzzles, and are also very quick and self-contained.
Here is a simple rotation question as an example. Can you state by what angle the first image of a green tick has been rotated clockwise to create the second image to its right:
One tip for those who find this type of puzzle hard when they are starting off is to draw the starting shape on a piece of paper and notice what happens when you then rotate that piece of paper at different angles. This can help you improve and work out the answers to future mind game puzzles of this type.
