HyperSudoku: More Box RegionsAs you'll readily see from the images of this puzzle to the right, hypersudoku is sometimes also called windoku.
The puzzle is a very simple variant of standard sudoku and contains four additional regions, the boxes that are marked, in this example in light green in the grid.
Other than that, the puzzle proceeds in the same way a sudoku except of course you'll need to pay attention to these four new regions in order to solve the puzzle.
Because they have these additional regions you will probably find that most hypersudoku you are presented with have less givens than standard sudoku puzzles, and of course you'll need to use the extra regions to whittle down the options for the cells in those regions in addition to the other three regions that each cell is in.
Hypersudoku is not that commonly seen in print, although there are a couple of newspapers around the world that feature hypersudoku puzzles on a daily basis.
There are many different extra-regions variants of sudoku, such as hypersudoku of course, but also variants such as Sudoku X, slash sudoku and many more besides.
