What is irregular sudoku?
Irregular sudoku sounds like it only happens every now and again, but in fact the word refers to the shape of the regions.
Unlike normal sudoku which has very ordered nine 3x3 box regions, the box regions in irregular sudoku are no longer boxes, or at least they need not be.
There are still 27 regions in a 9x9 puzzle, however in addition to the nine rows and columns the nine box regions are squished into all sorts of weird and wonderful shapes.
