What are the rules of Toroidal Sudoku?
The rules of toroidal sudoku state that, as well as each row and column, each toroidal region must also contain 1 - 9 once only.
The toroidal regions are the irregularly shaped regions that don't necessarily all touch each other - they can wrap around the top, bottom, left and right of the grid just like in the game Pacman you can go off one side of the screen and come back on the other side!
Toroidal is difficult because it is hard to apply rules that are much easier for the eye with a regular 3 x 3 box in standard sudoku to the heavily distorted regions that often appear across disparate regions of the puzzle in a toroidal sudoku.
It is best played in colour with different colours demarcating the regions. In black and white regions are distinguished with thicker black lines however it can be hard on paper to keep track of which cells belong to each region, adding an extra complexity when it comes to solving the puzzle.
