What are the rules of Fillomino?
The rules of fillomino state that every cell in the puzzle must belong to an n-omino of some size, shape or form.
In other words at the end of the puzzle, every cell will have a number in it. The finished puzzle is composed of islands of differing sized number of cells.
Each island must have the designated number of cells in it, e.g. a '2' has 2 cells in it each marked accordingly.
Different islands of the same value cannot touch adjacently.
What many find it hard to remember and confusing is that cells can be assigned to islands as you go through the puzzle - in other words you have to determine sometimes what other islands are in the puzzle, their size and shape.
This makes the puzzle different from most other Japanese puzzles where given numbers are all you need to know, for instance in nurikabe.
Also remember that islands can contain just one cell.
It is best to look at a few samples being solved first to get an idea of how it works or to look at a filled grid.
