How do you play heyawake?
The rules of heyawake are quite simple, but the puzzle is great fun and there are many interesting solving rules.
The puzzle involves a rectangular grid as common to many Japanese puzzles.
The grid is sub-divided into various smaller rectangles. Many contain a number. You need to determine if a cell should be filled in or left blank, by solving in accordance to the rules of the game, namely:
- filled cells must not touch
- all empty cells must connect
- a room with a number, e.g. 2, means that number (two) cells are filled in that rectangle
- if no number is specified then you must determine how many (if any) are filled
- a line of connected white cells must not connect more than two rooms together
